What research information is available to inform program policy and practice in dual language/immersion (DL/Imm) education with children from a wide range of backgrounds and developmental profiles? Based on findings from a multi-year project that joined together practitioner expertise with the evolving research base, this one-day workshop will familiarize participants with a set of research-based, practitioner-informed principles that can serve as guideposts for establishing program policies and tackling day-to-day issues of struggling DL/Imm learners.
Tara Fortune will begin the day with an introduction to the topic and a review of research. For the afternoon, Dr. Fortune has invited local DL/Imm educators who will offer breakout sessions that model specific intervention strategies for use in your classroom. The day will end with a brief discussion of new insights and time for participants to set individual professional goals that address this topic.
